Reverse dog leash policy SY21
This is a petition to reverse the decision to force dog owners to leash dogs in all common areas of SY21.
There are many friendly and calm dogs who live in the complex and enjoy having a sniff and play downstairs with their owners. This is not only healthy for the dogs but good for the owners wellbeing. It creates a unique sense of community which is good for safety and mental health.
The recent requirement to leash dogs in common areas comes after an unidentified person was allegedly bitten by a dog that we are told was visiting the property. That means this is not a dog who frequents the common areas. It is unfair to punish dogs and their owners who use and pay for the common facilities - especially seeing as this dog is owned by someone who is not a resident and really has nothing to do with the complex.
If a dog is dangerously or there are issues with that particular dog, it should be dealt with on a case by case basis - not with an overarching cruel rule.
This petition asks that the decision is reversed, and if there is any issue with a dog in future that dog is dealt with individually.
