Canine Good Neighbour Fee Hikes

In December of 2015 the Canadian Kennel Club announced new fees for Canine Good Neighbour Evaluations. They are now charging an extra $10.00 to have the CGN Title added to a purebred dog’s record which in essence is discriminating against purebred dogs and penalizing purebred dog ownership which the CKC is supposed to be protecting and promoting.

To the Canadian Kennel Club

The recent fee changes for Canine Good Neighbour evaluations are discriminatory towards pure bred dogs and their owners. Charging extra for a CGN title is punishing those dog owners who actually care about CKC registration and purebred dogs and are in many cases CKC members.

Canine Good Neighbour Evaluations are a way to engage with all dog owners and encourage the general public to get a real title on their purebred dog as well as encourage all dog owners whether purebred or not to train their dogs to have good manners.

We understand that the Canadian Kennel Club has expenses and raising the fees for Canine Good Neighbour Testing in a moderate way to help cover costs is not at issue. The owners and breeders of Canadian Kennel Club Registered dogs should be celebrated and rewarded for their accomplishment and participation not penalized by extra fees.

We the undersigned are asking the Canadian Kennel Club to remove the extra fees for a Canine Good Neighbour Title on Canadian Kennel Club registered dogs.

These kinds of fee hikes are what drives more and more purebred dog owners and breeders to UKC. Is this really the time to hike prices and drive away income to the organization?

We pay to book the testing, we pay to buy the evaluation forms and we pay to get the official CKC certificate. We definitely should not have to pay to have the title officially added to the en of a dogs name.

Seriously. First you remove this title as an eligble title for Grand Championship Excellent and then want to charge MORE for it. If it is that cumbersome why not just eliminate it completely ? bad planning yet again...if you want to save money MOVE or stop giving pay increases when they are NOT merited.

This is ridiculous to charge additional fees to get this title added to the dog's name. If a CKC member with a CKC registered dog successfully earns the CGN (which should be encouraged!) it should automatically be added to the dog's name. I understand not necessarily mailing out the certificate unless an additional fee is paid, but honestly - it doesn't cost anything extra to type 3 letters in after a dog's name on a computer!

I am a premier member & think we don't get alot of breaks for our yearly fee's .They want to charge us more?? They wonder why membership is declining?? They need to look at different approaches to get money !!

À la fois ridicule et honteux.Nous serions désormais pénalisés d'avoir un bon chien de race duquel on s'occupe? Tout simplement aberrant. Réfléchissez, que diable!

IF a fee hike is to be levied, it should be for all dogs, not just CKC dogs.

CKC is pushing people away with their money grabs. This is nearly as bad as the non-member fee for shows. This is not how you encourage participation.
