Reverse Bristol Township's Ban on Open Fires
The banning of open fires is un-American!! Fire has been around since the beginning of man. Why are we forbidden to maintain an open fire, on our own property, by a local, uninformed municipality? Why are the mistakes or abuses of a few burdening those who safely maintain an open fire for leisure and entertainment purposes? If local stores sell chimineas and fire pits...why aren't we permitted, on our own property, to have an open fire? If you'd like to sit outside on a chilly evening and roast a marshmallow or two...why is Bristol Township banning us from doing so? Our land was farmland before it was "urbanized". Most of our rights have been taken away or over-regulated for the benefit of the few. What about those who strive to live their lives as free Americans? Who pay their taxes, regardless of how their hard earned money is spent? We maintain our properties, and wish to enjoy them while we can. The authorities will try and claim that it is unhealthy or disturbing to others who have breathing issues. While sympathetic to others health needs, so is smoking, living in an industrial area, or the many vehicles on the road that are not following the emissions law. We could go on and on....but again, fire pits and small bonfires burn "natural" substances, such as wood. Charcoals in a BBQ are sprayed down with lighter fluid or already soaked in such unnatural man-made chemicals. Should we ban barbecuing as well? To date, no such studies or medical reports have linked small, individual bonfires to cancer, or other such malady. We DEMAND our right to have fire pits and small bonfires on our own property!! We are not children that need this much minding. It is done anyway, regardless of the code or law. Stop wasting the time of first responders, following up on "nuisance" neighborly reports!!
