Homeowners in Champion Village and the condos on the other side of the lot were promised a park in the area which has now been designated at Reunion Trails Park. A Las Vegas Sun article written April 28th 2009 stated that the park had a $13 million dollar budget. The current plans that exist call for a park that will cost $9,327,450. The cause for this petition is the 1/4th of the park that is covered by turned over boulders. The original drawings for the plans state that the area would be a Xeriscape planting area. More recently a park planner has sent an email stating "The desert restoration on the north end will be one of the final items completed with a desert varnish that stains the rocks complementing shades of desert brown".

The definition of Xeriscape differs between the City of Henderson, Parks and Recreation and the residents of the parks surrounding area. Other City of Henderson Parks feature Xeriscape including decorative rocks and small plants. This area of Reunion Trails Park is being compared to other parks including the Bark Park at Heritage. However the area in which in the Bark Park is being compared to Reunion Trails do not consist of the numerous amounts of large boulders that are present in Reunion Trails. The north side of the park looks no different from before construction began on the park as these boulders were present when the park was an empty lot.

The reason for this petition is to display to the City of Henderson, Parks and Recreation the displeasure of the citizens of the community with the north end of Reunion Trails Park. The large amount of boulders are a hazard to those who will chose to enjoy the park for in future. If anyone falls in that area their injuries will be extremely hazardous to their health. The condition of the north end of Reunion Trails Park does not meet up to the standards of the citizens in the surrounding area and the final product is a blemish on the city of Henderson at large.

Sincerely the undersigned
