Look at the passion Project 1999 has. A Day Break Games sanctioned version would be a no brainer for a lot of people who are leery about playing on an emulator.
Daybreak Games could do almost nothing short of unveiling a surprise expansion/er/campaign than to make a lot of magic with a return to the three basic classics as a game server/or a couple. Envelope those players who still love to play those zones --- grab those with expendable income and be happy with their loyalty as that is exactly what you would get! I salute this idea - fabulous!

I love the original 3, shoot I love through pop, but what I want is the original look and feel not all the new stuff slapped together with the old expansions.
Would love to experience what I've not been able to.

True classic is what dbg needs. No op pets, no op monk fists, original xp rates with hell levels, money weight,
