After hearing today's phone message from Principal Malik Bazzell it has come to my attention that starting this Tuesday (10/25) "Smart Lunch will no longer exist at Wakefield and we will be switching to an alternate lunch schedule until 11/15 (3 full weeks)".

He goes on to say that this is because of fights going in the commons during lunch and overcrowding. I believe that if this is the cause then Mr. Bazzell needs to be dealing with the students causing the trouble rather than the entire school as a whole.

We need to remember, It's still the beginning of the year and fights are very common at Wakefield at the beginning of each year (which I have noticed over 4 years).

We also now have hundreds of new students and freshmen on main campus all at once and we have to remember that for the past number of years at Wakefield it has just been sophmores, juniors, and seniors and that this is a very big change for us.

By signing this petition you are showing that us as students and parents realize and utilize smart lunch for how great and useful it is when you need help in classes, for club meetings, catching up on work, and so many more reasons... and that you feel it is unfair all of us have to pay the price of smart lunch just because there have been a few issues going with the beginning of this school year.
