For ten years, I made the library a part of my Saturday errands with the kids in the neighborhood. Now I have to get in a car and end up shopping elsewhere -- if I can manage to get to a library at all.

I applaud the alternate weekday until 8pm (Mondays). But this should have been swapped for a weekday or added to the open days, not taken from the weekend (Saturdays).

The Piedmont Branch has a unique collection, especially of videos, not available at other branches. Closing it on weekends may save the city money, but its penny wise and pound foolish. Weekend library trips nourish our community, providing a safe environment/space, access to learning and art, and an alternative to other pursuits. Working and low income families need this resource.

If you must close the library, pick one weekday. Families with working parents should have at least a half day on a weekend to enjoy the library at their leisure.

An open library on the weekends is so important, especially for parents who work during the week and have only the weekend to take the kids to the library.

Many students at Piedmont Ave. School commute by car and don't use the labrary unless is part of the school day. use the library unless it's part of the school day, and the library is deserted on Mondays.

Reverse this dreadfully shortsighted decision, one based on no consulataion with the community the library serves.

My grandchildren can no longer enjoy their Saturday walks to the neighborhood library. As a result, they no longer use the library. What a shame!

We've paid for our libraries to be open when residents need them, so stop the sacrifice of needed public services to fund wasteful spending elsewhere.

Just opening a few hours on Saturday or Sunday would make a huge difference to the community. Piedmont ave has a huge amount of foot traffic on weekends including many folks with young kids who USED to regularly visit the branch. The inflexibility of the library on exchanging some weekday hours for a few weekend hours is baffling.

How does restricting hours increase library use? Since I work those same hours, there is NO way I could ever get there.... doesn't make sense to me... I really appreciate evening hours, even if not every night of the week, and Saturdays...
