Retiring a jersey is a decision that can't be taken lightly or it diminishes the gesture. That being said, I have not had the pleasure of watching a more deserving junior hockey player. In my mind he ranks up there with Yzerman and Messier in terms of leadership and I can't think of a comparable person in terms of what he has meant to the community as a whole. Tyler is truly one of a kind and definitely deserves this honour.

He's the best Hurricanes captain and player we have ever had on and off the ice. There's nothing he wouldn't have done just to make a fan happy. He deserves to have his jersey and name hanging in the rafters
