Retire Greg Sanders Number 53

retiring Greg's number is way overdue!!

I was at the NIT championship game. I was hoarse from yelling so much, stayed in a NYC bar till closing, had to drive home, change and come back into NYC for a job interview. During the interview they kept asking me why I was so hoarse. Got the job too. One of my best memories of being a Bonnie, and loved how Greg played that night.

First Bonnies tournament championship win in the modern era and Sanders was the MVP. He should be in, first ballot!

I remember going to the games back then with my dad, who was a graduate from Bonas. Let's show Greg respect and retire his jersey.

It was a pleasure watching him play.

Let's get this long overdue recognition accomplished!

Make this happen for a legendary Bonaventure player. He deserves it. Glad to hear he's reconnected to Bona's.

Lot's of memories watching Sander's first two years from the bleachers, I'll be there when they retire #53.

I watched that NIT championship game when I was 11 with my father (alumni) !! Never forget that game.

How can the all time leading scorer for Bona's not have his number hung from the RC rafters? What memories of the year I graduated Bona's 77', the NIT champions and Mister G was the MVP. Please retire Greg Sanders number and hang it high next to Essie Hollis.

This honor is LONG overdue! To hold the all time scoring record for almost 40 years, long before the 3 point shot came into play, demonstrates what an amazing career this man had. Retire 53!!

It's impossible to explain to any sport fan why the leading scorer in your schools history doesn't have their number retired. Seriously??? Recruits look at how the school treated the players that came before them as a symbol of how you will treat them. Raise the banner!

Our all-time leading scorer, NOT in the HOF? Come on now... best long range shooter I have ever seen. ANYWHERE!

All-time leading scorer -what else is needed?

Greg Sanders was a hero tool not only myself but thousands of Bona basketball fans. A prolific scorer and team player. His 40-pt performance in the '77 NIT final was the stuff of legend. I hope SBU does the right thing and bring Greg and his family to campus with an appropriate jersey retirement ceremony. His #53 belongs in the RC rafters!
