Chevi Peters, a retired Special Olympics athlete for New Hope Services has retired and because of the special meaning of the number would like his jersey (#2) retired too. He was informed that the only way that would be possible is if he passed away. It might also be considered if he came back an volunteered his time. Chevi devoted devoted 7 years of his life to Special Olympics. He is a National Gold medalist and World Champion. The idea that he needs to give more to New Hope Services is ubsurd. Anybody who has dolled Chevi's story knows how much he has overcome in his life and how far he has come. There are many inspirational stories to come out of New Hope. ESPN featured Chevi. The least that New Hope can do is retire his number. Chevi wasn't suppose to live past 2. That's why it's so important. In my opinion we're asking for very little for someone who gave so much.
The leadership at New Hope Services is still hiding behind ridiculous policies instead of honoring a true champion. They think Chevi needs to bargain for his own legacy but we know his seven years of gold medals and heart are more than enough. Do not let them sweep this aside because silence is the only thing protecting their shameful decision.

The momentum behind this is growing fast and it proves how little New Hope Services values the legacy of a true champion like Chevi. They have no excuse to keep clinging to their insulting policies while we continue to expose their lack of respect. Keep the pressure on them until they finally acknowledge his achievements.

Retire the number New Hope. Greed is ugly and ruins your reputation as you are owned by Medicalodge. Its ridiculous. My advice to family is contact KOAM and report your story. That will get the ball rolling and done. Love ya Chevi! #Inspiration2All
