Chevi Peters, a retired Special Olympics athlete for New Hope Services has retired and because of the special meaning of the number would like his jersey (#2) retired too. He was informed that the only way that would be possible is if he passed away. It might also be considered if he came back an volunteered his time. Chevi devoted devoted 7 years of his life to Special Olympics. He is a National Gold medalist and World Champion. The idea that he needs to give more to New Hope Services is ubsurd. Anybody who has dolled Chevi's story knows how much he has overcome in his life and how far he has come. There are many inspirational stories to come out of New Hope. ESPN featured Chevi. The least that New Hope can do is retire his number. Chevi wasn't suppose to live past 2. That's why it's so important. In my opinion we're asking for very little for someone who gave so much.
