I don't presume to have the answers, but I sincerely believe that safe injection sites, while serving to help a small number of addicted individuals, will further enable the behavior in many others.

Opening injection sites is enabling drug use and endangering the community. We need mandatory treatment theough arrest and diversion instead. Host laws will enable victims to sue Seattle, potentially costing taxpayers millions of dollars. It is not getting people into treatment in Canada. It is not working in Canada and will not work here.

I would much rather see the money spent on the positive side of life - for addiction recovery beds and for mental health assistance. Drug injection sites are just helping someone to die.

Spend these dollars on long term treatment. Folks need carrots and sticks to make it out of addiction and just offering carrots doesn't seem that helpful.

I want a safe city for my family and fellow Seattlites. Safe injection sites will only encourage drug use. It's enough to have to watch out for my own safety every day working downtown as it is. Please don't let drug abuse take over Seattle!

Without compulsory treatment, supporting addiction is forcing society to partner in the destruction of people's lives.

I work with addicts in need of treatment. They and I say more treatment beds and no to injection sites.

IV drug consumption is very spread out throughout Seattle. SIS in one two or three areas will have a limited effect on overdoses etc unless the IV drug using population can be concentrated around these sites. So essentially these SIS sites will only be effective if the areas proximate to them are sacrificed.

We have to make affordable and timely detox, rehab, and long-term counseling a priority to help the addicted get clean and stay clean. This is where every available public dollar should be going.
