If you are reading this, it is because at some point in our careers you and I have crossed paths and we have served together in some way, shape or form. I trust that you know me, and my love and dedication to the Marine Corps. You know that I am a man of great pride who does not like to ask people for things. However, if you strongly feel that I possess the leadership qualities, traits and attributes of an outstanding Marine and you would vouch for me without hesitation, merely based on what you know about me, my character and my ability to perform, I humbly ask that you sign this petition in support of my continued service as an officer in the Marine Corps. My intent is to gather as many signatures from those that I have served with in an attempt to show the members of a separation type of board that I am in fact a motivated hard charger who consistently demonstrates JJDIDTIEBUCKLE and is guided by our leadership principles and our core values of HONOR, COURAGE and COMMITMENT. Furthermore, that I have consistently demonstrated excellent leadership throughout my career and have made a positive impact on the lives and careers of many Marines and will continue to do so for as long the Marine Corps gives me the privilege of leading Marines. This is an unfortunate situation that I have put myself into, but in my honest opinion, it is truly nothing worthy of separation from the Marine Corps. I will not go out without a fight. If you have been around me for longer than five minutes, you know my motto, Hard Times Dont Last, Hard People Do. Thanks for your support! Semper Fidelis.

The response to this has been humbling and honestly overwhelming. It is difficult to put into words what it means to see so many of you standing behind my career when things have looked so bleak. I am drawing a lot of resolve from this support as I prepare for what comes next.

Captain Guerra and I go way back to the late 90's, I have known him since he was a Lance Corporal. He was then, and continues to be an outstanding Marine and individual. There were many times that I remember he had and displayed more motivation and dedication than some of the Infantry Marines, and outperformed quite a few individuals physically on a regular basis. His dedication to his job and his unit were of the highest quality and everyone in the platoon and company knew he was a dedicated Marine. You would be hard pressed to find another officer with the same level of commitment to the Corps and his/her Marines.
I've known Captain Guerra since he was a 2ndLt. I was then a Sergeant who served under his charge and have witnessed the day to day, engaged leadership which continues to stick with me. This Marine will work tirelessly with no signs of distress in order to get a task done. I tried to adopt his saying "HTDLHPD", but there is only one person that I know (Guerra) who takes full accountability as to what it really means. Very inspiring leader who won't let those around him fail.
One of the best Marines or person I have ever got a chance to work with. A great leader, mentor and friend.
The best officer I ever worked for! Always put the mission and his Marines first. We need more guys like him around.
Served with Capt Guerra back in 04. Guy is a top notch leader and knows how to take care of his people. Marine Corps would be losing a good one if he goes.
It is with great honor that I write this testament to the person, friend and Marine that is Captain. Romeo Guerra. I met Captain Guerra when we were both Sergeants, after I transferred to the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF), Communications Platoon in Indian Head Maryland. Needless to say from the moment I walked in, I knew who the senior Sergeant was. He lived his entire life for the Corps and his Marines and it was demonstrated in everything he did from the way he spoke, to the way he presented himself: always with poise, sternness and respect. It was what drew me to him as a friend. Captain Guerra is a Marines Marine. The go to guy when you need something done, and the last Marine you wanted to let down, no matter the rank. Always the first to come in and the last to go, Captain Guerra continues to this day, to lead by example; always making every achievement and mistake a learning opportunity. If asked today, any of the Marines that we served with together would do anything that was asked of them by Captain Guerra, and that includes me. Various operations in which we both worked together were: State of the Union Address – 2004, 2005 Ricin attack on the Dirksen Senate Office Building in 2004 Dedication of the World War II Memorial - 2004 Presiden Reagan’s Funeral – 2004 President Bush’s inauguration – 2005 Thanks to social media, once my enlistment was over, I was able to stay in touch and follow his rise from Second Lieutenant to Captain. As a Marine and friend I could not be prouder of him. If anyone deserved to move forward in the ranks, it was Captain Guerra. In every capacity he never attributed his success to himself, if not to the men and women under his charge. I truly believe that the Corps is stronger and better than what it was before Captain Guerra joined its ranks. Captain Guerra has impacted my life not only while serving with him in the Corps, but in my life after the Corps. He has paved the way for individuals such as my self to stay motivated no matter how hard times get. He taught me to stay disciplined, focused on your goal, and continue to seek improvement in myself, and to be a better Marine not just for the Corps but for myself. They don't make hard chargers like him anymore. He is one to fight for every Marine he has crossed path with.
