It is my understanding that It was the wish of the seller of the land that it was only to be used for sport. I understand this was written into the deeds and note Ady Bircher refers to a 30 year covenant, this seems to confirm his wishes.
Of course Witney needs and should have a Senior football club and a thriving Junior section to go with it. How on earth the ground and stadium ended up in private hands is another story! WODC do your duty.

Witney needs a facility like this much more than a few more offices and houses.
This land has, I believe, never been part of the council's housing plan.

The town has grown substantially since the ground was last in use, so there would be more demand to use the facilities if it were reinstated.
Following London 2012, sports facilities have been developed in other areas to promote a healthier lifestyle, so the Witney community deserves the same opportunities.

Good luck with this, Dan - might I suggest that people interested in saving this ground form a GoFundMe page and attempt to buy the stadium from its current owner. Maybe West Witney FC could move in there, once the building work has been checked and deemed safe? Some great ideas and would be a shame if the ground was lost.

It would be a disgrace for the town to lose this facility. In my opinion the council should take it over for community use. This recreation land would never be replaced.

It's unbelievable that the football club was allowed to fold. There must be lots of former players who could start it up again - if the stadium is retained WHICH IT MUST BE!!
