We, the undersigned residents, business owners, and concerned citizens, join together to express our deep concern about the escalating public safety issues on Chapel Street, particularly in the area surrounding the town hall.

In recent weeks a significant group of individuals has established a disruptive anti-social daily presence, engaging in behaviours such as excessive drinking, drug use, loud music, fighting, and verbal abuse towards shoppers and pedestrians. This situation has led to a decline in the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere that Chapel Street is internationally known for and is a threat and danger to anyone walking past.

The consequences of these actions are far-reaching, impacting local businesses that are facing financial losses due to reduced foot traffic. Residents are now hesitant to leave their homes, and Chapel Street's esteemed reputation is rapidly eroding.

We respectfully urge the City of Stonnington to address this issue promptly, working in collaboration with local law enforcement. We believe that a concerted effort is essential to restore public safety, peace, and the positive image of Chapel Street.

I have submitted a formal letter to the City of Stonnington detailing the accounts of disruption provided in your signatures. We are now coordinating with the local precinct commander to review recent incident reports and establish a schedule for increased patrols.

We are approaching one hundred signatures and need to reach this threshold before I submit our formal request to the City of Stonnington. Please send the link to your local contacts today so we have the necessary backing when I meet with municipal officials this week.

I'm concerned for my staff safety when we hold open for inspection. I personally have been confronted standing out the front of 7 King St and was threatened verbally.

I am a young woman who has lived near chapel street for now 10 years (since arriving in Australia for the first time) and I walk the street every day, early morning, before work, after work and to go shopping / to the gym. I have been assaulted twice and been pretty scared for my safety on multiple occasions. Please do something!

Business is becoming tough for all of us, constant damage and filth on our streets. No one wants to come to chapel as much anymore and making things so hard for us busness owners.

Keep us safe! Was verbally abused and followed on a Monday morning just trying to go to the gym. Once safely inside the gym this guy continued to smash his fists on the windows still yelling at me and spitting on the glass. Police were called and only showed up an hour later once he had fled.

This behaviour is stretched out further from the town hall, particularly around the supermarkets. Ive witness an injection in daylight outside Dan Murphy’s and a man exposing himself whilst verbally attacking people near Bridie O’Reilys.

I have had to change my daily walking route due the increased frequency of antisocial behaviour in Grattan Gardens, Prahran Square and outside the town hall. I am concerned for the safety of my dog and myself. Only last night did this group pictured have a fight, causing pools of blood and emergency services to attend outside town hall.

Cyclists do not pay registration or insurance and we have to give up everything for them rethink they don’t pay your rates

Good to see the building's facade is getting a clean today. It would be great if the townhall square was a space worth caring about again.
