Dear Sir, Sub : Petition to Urgently Restore availability of complete and timely Data of Import Export by Customs in public domain. I request you to kindly direct Customs Dept to immediately restore access to correct, complete and national data to members of trade, hitherto stopped due to implementation of ICES 1.5 EDI system of Customs. This concerns national public interest and national trade felicitation. Availability of complete, accurate, national and timely Export Import data base is a pre-requisite of sound planning in field of Foreign Trade. Our exports are equivalent of 22% of our GDP and Imports are equivalent of 28% of GDP. Indian Trade & Industry needs to understand and evaluate the trend and direction of Export Import Trade in real-time basis. While the data is shared with Govt statistical agencies, the citizens of country are denied the information or provided grossly incomplete, inaccurate, delayed or useless information. The methods used are also frustrating, and time consuming. Daily National Export Import data base needs to be shared with members of trade at par with Govt statistical agencies, at same time and with same ease of operation. This will enable citizens of country to do research and analysis of India’s foreign Trade and take informed decisions on time. This also eliminates load on Govt Statistical Agencies. Following improvements are sought : 1) Restore publication of Daily List on Daily basis as done earlier. 2) Publish it from a centralized single Source. 3) Publish National Data – 100% coverage of All Modes - Air / Sea / Land / Courier/ Post/ EPZ, SEZ in India. 4) Create a Dedicated Team to manage Daily List at a centralized Source.
