Restore Voting Rights!
Dear Governor Reynolds,
Iowa is the only state in the nation that does not allow those with felony convictions to vote after they have served their sentence.
A decade ago through an executive order, Governor Terry Branstad stripped the right to vote from residents with felony convictions. Restoring this right has overwhelming bi-partisan support, yet Iowa still does not have a Constitutional Amendment that would give the right to vote to those with a felony conviction.
We believe it’s time to take immediate action and sign an executive order to restore the voting rights of those who have served their prison sentences without additional barriers and voting restrictions. They deserve to be active participants in our democratic process, and they deserve to vote in November 2020.
