The school board has officially restored the Redskin mascot to our district. While this chapter concludes our formal campaign, we should remain attentive as the transition process begins for our athletic programs and facilities.

As a resident of Belding for over 50 years and past president of the Marching Redskins, I respectfully demand putting Redskins back in our name..sign REDSKIN PRIDE
Redskin Tough!! Redskin Pride...being Native American decent I see no problem with this..I'm not offended. These kids need to be strong and resilient like my ancestors..never lay down, never give up!
It's time our voices are heard, we are the Redskins, the mighty mighty Redskins!! Its pride and tradition, not prejudice!! The school board and administration are elected to be the communities voices...time to let it be known!! So all alumni and current Redskins, it's time to rally as a tribe and make sure a tradition survives the generations to come!!
The early members of our community as well as several other communities in Michigan certainly chose mascots to inspire pride in their schools and teams. It seems logical that it was meant to honor the Native Americans who lived and still live here.
As a BHS alum with Native American heritage, I took great pride in being a Belding Redskin. The intent behind the name has never been derogatory and everyone who played with that name on their jersey is proud to have represented not only the community of Belding, but also the Native American community.
As an Indian decent there is pride to be had in this being a mascot, bring back our strength!

I grew up in Belding and was proud to be a Redskin! And I was proud of our "Redskin Mascot" Taking away our trademark took away our school spirit and pride. #BringBackOurMascot #BringBackOurSpirit
