It is very difficult to explain to my children that we cannot go to Mass because of a virus, but the early Christians celebrated Mass in the catacombs with the punishment of death. The irony is not lost on them. As Padre Pio says, the world has more need of the Mass and Eucharist than it does the sun.
We need to be strengthened by His Love in the Blessed Sacrament. Some of us who are daily Communicants believe the Mass is "essential".
Thank you your Excellency for shepherding us back to Christ. Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, intercede for us!

For centuries church was open even pandemic was natural not like that one today’s and was sweeping in 14 century one third of the population . What kind of bishops are you to close the churches. There should be blessed sacrament day and night long. In Poland churches are open but America giving me a lot of thinking especially Bay Area

We will take all precautions per the government’s request whilst at Mass - however, the Catholic Church must take all precautions to not exclude the Creator of ALL things from our midsts and trust only in man and whilst showing distrust in Christ. The Governments of the world over are doing all in their power to stop this plaque and the Catholic Church MUST do HER part and not shut out the Holy Sacrifice from Her sheep and from others who could be lost.
