General Manager John Hughes of WPFW changed the entire program schedule grid on December 3, 2013 without giving proper notice to its programmers. 80% of those programs have now been restored to their pre-December 3rd time slots. However the Native American program out of Washington, D. C. on WPFW has not restored. At the latest Local Station Board Meeting, Tony Norman a member of the elected Local Station Board stated, "The shows that were not restored were those that did not perform." This is untrue. It is no coincidence that the shows that have not returned to their timeslots ware the ones whose hoss have opposed John Hughes' management practices. The Nightwolf Show has far exceeded allof its fundraising goals that were set by WPFW for its fund drives. Jay Winter Nightwolf and his staff have endured 12 years of racial discrimination at the hands of various members of the WPFW staff and have been moved first from its original 7pm - 8pm timeslot on Sundays to 7pm - 8 pm Fridays and now to 1pm-2pm Friday afternoon. This last slot has made it all but impossible for the people for whom the Nightwolf Show speaks to hear the broadcast. This move was done as retaliation for Jay Winter Nightwolf's stand against the racist and unfair practices by general manager John Hughes. Complaints were made to WPFW management and the Pacifica Foundation to no avail. Discrimination against Native Americans in broadcasting by WPFW, its various general managers and the Pacifica Foundation is nothing new. Jay Winter Nightwolf and The Nightwolf Team are seeking to be restored to Sunday evenings from 7-8 pm. Yes we are asking for a 2 hour broadcast. Many requests over the years for an additional hour have gone unanswered. In 2000 The Nightwolf Show was awarded the coveted Pacifica Spirit Award, 2012 The Nightwolf Show was picked as one of the top 10 indigenous broadcast in the western hemisphere by Native Peoples Magazine and has received 2 commendations for Volunteer Service and Excellence in Broadcasting the governor of the State of Maryland, Martin O'Malley.
