Restore the CGSC Language Elective Grades

Please sign this petition if you believe that the CGSC Language elective program would and should result in a letter grade and that you think it is unfair that it was changed to Pass/Fail after the end of the course.
1. The classes were advertised as for a grade. All language signup pages on blackboard had the following language:
"To satisfactorily complete this course, you must attend all classes, participate in classroom instruction/discussion/exercises, and complete homework assigned by the instructor. You will complete independent work online as well as in-class language practices. Your progress will be measured through assessment of your performance on listening and comprehension, reading and comprehension, and grammar and vocabulary points. Your language instructor will assess your achievement of the course objectives in accordance with the individual course syllabus provided during Lesson 1."
There is no reference to courses being Pass/Fail. It says we will get an assessment of our performance and refers us to the syllabus for the details. Our syllabi were unambiguous in stating that each course is offered for a grade that will be uploaded to blackboard. I've cut and pasted here:
"Grading: The above grading categories will be weighted in the following manner:
Attendance: 10%
Participation: 15%
Assignments: 30%
Quizzes: 25%
Oral Exam: 10%
Essay: 10%
Final course grades will be posted on Blackboard and assigned IAW
CGSC Bulletin No. 903."
2. Changes shouldn't be announced after all coursework is completed. The college's policy documents are its contract with the student, as is the instructor's syllabus. Students rely on those to make the best decisions regarding their course of studies. After they've relied upon them, no changes after-the-fact. To do so would be unjust to the student.
3. Changing to P/F denies the student credit for
work already accomplished and will negatively impact class standing and AERs of
language takers if three of five credits aren't factored in our
GPA.
