Recently, the Wisconsin Legislature raised the Gray Wolf hunting quota by more than 100%, allowing hunters to kill up to 300 wolves in the state for the 2021 Fall hunting season. There are roughly 1,000 gray wolves left in Wisconsin, and we are calling on the Department of the Interior to restore the protected status of the gray wolf that was recently removed. Last year, in one permitted hunt, more than 200 wolves were killed in a 3 day period, causing the state wolf population to decline by more than 20%. We are calling for action from the Biden Administration, this calculated tactic is not being used to protect herds and flocks, it is being used to eradicate wildlife by revenge hungry anti-wolf poachers. Once this petition gains a reasonable amount of signatures, it will be emailed to the Department of the Interior. Feel free to send your own email to [email protected].

Thank you in advance.

Updates

August 14, 2021

The feedback I receive through comments and private messages confirms that many people feel a deep urgency regarding the survival of these wolves. I am currently organizing the data to ensure these concerns reach federal officials with the gravity they deserve.

Reaching this response level shows that many people recognize the urgent need to protect our local wildlife populations. This momentum confirms that our concerns regarding the current management of the gray wolf are shared by a vast community.

wolves are an essential part of the ecosystem and they deserve to keep their protected status. stop the killing now.

From the small number of documented attacks, it can be concluded that the vast majority of wolves do not pose any threat to human safety. A person in wolf country has a greater chance of being killed by a dog, lightning, a bee sting or a car collision with a deer than being injured by a wolf.
