The U.S. Open Cup is so much fun for the fans. It's also a rare opportunity for MLS to prove its worthiness as this country's D1 league, and for other leagues to test themselves against the best. It's also an opportunity for soccer fans outside of MLS markets to go see MLS teams play and maybe become lifelong fans. It definitely grows the game, and MLS should take it more seriously, not less.

Make no mistake about it, MLS OWNERS voted to not participate in the USOC because they didn't own the broadcast rights and would rather shoe horn their teams into a money grab against Liga MX teams in the very made up "Leagues Cup" where they control the broadcast rights and the ticket revenue meanwhile sh*tting on the history of the beautiful game in this country at the detriment of everyone else. It's not good for U.S. Soccer, it's not good for the sport at the developmental level and it's not good to showcase and assist the financially struggling teams in non MLS towns and backwaters thus not exposing more people and players to the game at it's higher levels and you know...GROWING THE SPORT. This situation is NO DIFFERENT than the European Super League idea only this time Capitalism is ruling the day in the United States and will continue until people make a stand. How many of these MLS OWNERS ever played the game in this country or even understand the history of the cup? I'd venture to say very few. I'm suddenly a LOT more interested in going to see Louisville City USL games to be perfectly honest because I can't support this type of greed. Shame on the owners, shame on Garber and ESPECIALLY shame on Nelson Rodriguez. Boycott ON.
