my daughter Megan has Tourette Syndrome and my family has been lucky enough to have found the pa-tsa to help us along our journey. My daughter has gained her strenth and since of belonging with the help of them! Sherrie S. you are a heaven sent! thank you for all that you do.

My son has Tourette Syndrome and is now 36 years old. He had a difficult childhood learning to deal with everything that goes with this syndrome; I don't know how he would have survived without the caring support that we received from the Pennsylvania Tourette Alliance. Please fund this program – the majority of schools, police, parents, doctors and more don’t know the best way to manage individuals with this diagnosis. When my son was first diagnosed the first place I went and the only place I found information was the community college which had two small articles. Thank goodness there are now many resources and people in the TSA office in Gettysburg (PA) that will advocate for you and decipher this information. Also there are people trained through the TSA office that will go with you to the school district or will put on seminars to train the police and others on the Syndrome to stop serious misunderstandings from happening. My son is stopped during every concert he has attended asking if he is on “drugs” because of his movements. The first doctor my son had consultation with concerning constant sniffing had never heard of Tourette Syndrome. Education and support are the key points to guiding those with TS through life.

Enough has never been done to help the ones with Tourette's & this should not be cut out as all the help for it is needed.

As a mom of a son who has severe Tourette's Syndrome, the Pa. TSA advocacy was key in getting support for Brian and receiving education on TS which helped him to complete high school. This support also helped him become his own advocate when educating others, both in school, church & public, about tics-copralalia&echolalia. I would hope that before cutting this much needed support, that Govenor Wolf would *meet with and get to know both young childrens,teens & adults who have to live w/ the challenge of TS. Do not cut this much needed support!!
