Restore funding for Domestic ESL at public post secondary institutions in British Columbia
Due to a massive funding cut, the post secondary institutions will be
forced to close the domestic ESL program this year. This program
provides immigrants and new Canadians the basic skills training needed
to enter the workforce or continue their education. This is a
devastating cut for students and community members.
Students are upset and confused this radical change and the lack of information about what will happen for ESL in the future.
The
provincial government is responsible to ensure the funding is restored.
A cut like this without any explanation is unacceptable. ESL needs to
stay in public institutions and students have a right to access basic
skills training. Help us send this message to the Ministry of Advanced
Education.
