I supported the referendum because it was the right thing to do. But there needs to be equity with the activities. For some kids, drama is all that they have. It needs to be a part of their experience in high school. Bring it back!

This program is just as important to the kids participating as sports. It develops leadership, friendship, public speaking, confidence, as well as many other life long skills. This is my kids sport. Please do not cut Drama

How on earth could you consider NOT restoring the arts program? We moved our daughter from the performing arts high school in the city in part because of the quality of the HCHS arts program. We would hate to have to move her again if these programs aren’t restored. Please make this a priority. Arts are just as important as sports, which have largely been reinstated.

The arts are so important for a well-rounded student. Wheather participating on the stage, behind the scenes, or simply by attending, all students benefit.

The Drama program is so important for our kids, not everyone is born sporty! My child has met so many amazing friends through the arts programs, it is her joy! Please don’t take that away from her and so many kids like her.

Drama Club and it’s associated productions are my daughter’s “sports”. Drama and musical theatre are why she works so hard during school, please allow her to continue with what she loves!

Preservation of the arts and providing opportunities for students to “find their voice”, have public speaking skills, build confidence on stage or on a platform is critical for development and maturation as well as opportunity for future success.

HCHS’s Drama Group gave me the foundation I needed to pursue a career and craft in the fine arts. To loose any more programming would be a great loss. For anyone to say that the athletic programs are more deserving, I ask that they attend one rehearsal. They try to sit in on one after school set building day and or watch a student go home and practice and research hours on end about scene work, costumes, props, monologue and or song study; and then to tell that child it’s not worth the funds. The education doesn’t end because the bell has rung or even after there 6+ hours of rehearsal/backstage. The HCHS Drama groups teachings provide skills and ethics that can’t be learned on a court or field. It’s the training of tomorrow’s artists that is fundamental to our children’s future.
