My first four years at Hinsdale Central, in addition to being a teacher in the English Department, were to function as the technical director for the play, variety show, and the musical. In those four years I worked in the company is some Hinsdale's brightest, talented, and most creative students, creating some of its most memorable creative dramatic, comedic, and musical memories. I don't prize these memories more than those academic achievements or those on the football field, the basketball court, or in the gymnastic gym, all exempliers of dedication and striving for excellence, but, likewise, I do not estimate their value and qualities to be less held in esteem!

I voted so that we could elevate south to north standards. Both schools are equal is bs, if that were the case why would South Residents petition to go to North?

Drama is essential to a high schoolers experience. As a former drama kid, it saddens me to see that it was cut. Kids who don’t necessarily fit in with sports or other things deserve a chance to grow in an environment that is really great for that, and that’s theater.

Hinsdale Drama Group was the start of many careers and lifelong friendships. Theater offers life skills in speaking, management, design, and construction that is not offered in other programs.

Drama provides a constructive avenue for the energy of our youth and helps them develop and embrace their individuality. It also brings a sense of community to the school. Please preserve it.

As an alumni, I can attest to the importance of these programs, and they are at least or more deserving than others already funded.

I voted for the referendum and request that all the drama programs be reinstated. As a 1982 graduate of Hinsdale Central, I would like my 12 year old daughter to enjoy plays at her high school.

Drama and the arts are just as important to students as sports. Cutting drama DOES have an impact on students and the budget savings is trivially small. This is not a club that is redundant or overlaps with other clubs. If you need to find $$ in the budget, keep the admin salary freeze for 1 year or cur 1 admin and all activities are paid for without impacting students.

I am a product of the drama club at Hinsdale Central, having made my living as an actor for 30 years, the last 18 in the broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera. What I learned through the drama group at Central prepared me not just for my profession, but for life. Please restore the cuts to this vital educational opportunity.

BOE— What message will you be sending to all of our theater arts kids and their families if you don't reinstate their programs?! All of the families that spent enormous amounts of their time and their money to pass this referendum did not do it JUST for sports or infrastructure. They did it for the arts as well! Bring them back IN FULL!

As a student who isn't involved in sports, the drama program is my sport. These are my closest friends, and we are all very passionate about what we do. It's helped us learn how to work better as a team, and provided us with leadership skills. Please reconsider the cuts.
