This online petition has been created in response to American Airlines decision to cancel their direct TLV to PHL flight effective January 4th, 2016. However, there are many travelers both business and tourists who want to see thus route restored. The removal of this route will cause a substantial addition in travel time for passengers along with the inherent troubles which come along with multiple connections on international flights. AA claims the direct TLV to PHL route it is a loosing route with average losses of $20 million dollars but if that were the case why did US Airways run the route for as long as they did prior to the AA / US Airways merger? It is my belief along with other passengers that this change came about because of politics and not necessarily profit. By signing this petition you support the effort to restore the direct TLV to PHL route and if AA chooses not to restore the route that another United States carrier will pick up the route. Additionally; for those in the airline industry that have suggestions on how to make this route profitable, your comments are welcomed. The idea here is to offer solutions as well as compel change.

From Chicago-Athens Facebook Group:

"The Tel Aviv situation out of Philly also affects other flights on AA as well......many people who have supported US and/or AA are now angry, and will stop spending money at AA/OneWorld.

However, with that in mind, people don't want to waste the mileage they have accrued. There are only TWO single-connection routes on OneWorld out of Philly to Tel Aviv.....which are via Madrid or London. Everything else would take at least two plane changes.

But there is the option to go to the (otherwise)closest possible AA point to Tel Aviv on mileage, and buy a cheap ticket out of there. That particular close point so happens to be Athens!! So once the allotment of award tickets out of PHL runs out to TLV via LHR/MAD, guess what's next? All these Israel-bound people cashing their miles in for ATH flights!!

It's bad enough that there's only two direct ATH flights from ALL of the USA----AA(US) from PHL and Delta from JFK. That's all! Canceling TLV, and having more people on the PHL-ATH flight makes it even more difficult for us to get tickets. If we don't get seats on the direct flight, then that adds one extra stop someplace in Europe.

And many of us are going beyond ATH, to places like Corfu and Salonika. You guys are not looking at the "Big Picture".... Canceling PHL-TLV is not only bad for Jews in Philly, but many PHL Greeks will also be forced to take less convenient routings, as a result.

By the way, we don't believe for a second that PHL-TLV was not a money-maker. The tickets to TLV are more expensive, and you have more business travelers than the ATH flight.......
