For the last 38 days the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad has seen the historical “Sit-ins” by Pakistan Awami Tehreek lead by a reformist, ambassador of peace and religious scholar Prof. Dr Tahir UL Qadri (chairman Pakistan Awami Tehreek) and Tehreek-E-Insaaf lead by international fame cricketer Imran Khan, (chairman Tehreek Insaaf), for the implementation of true democracy in Pakistan.

The political history of Pakistan is riddled by corruption since its birth in 1947 and has never lead to a true democracy in this country as a result of which Pakistan faces a meltdown of its economy and lacks essential services in the country such as energy, health, education, housing and joblessness superimposed by extremism and Law & order crisis in the country.

Pakistani nation has stood up for its rights and want the implementation of real democratic principles in this country. Govt of Pakistan is trying state machinery to curb the uprising and do whatever it takes to prevent people to stand for their basic rights. This involves the use of brutal force which includes firing against its own people which has killed more than 14 people and almost 90 injured with straight bullets in Model town massacre on 17th June, an additional 5 deaths with several hundred injured on 31st August and thousands arrested which are still continuing as we speak.

Pakistani nation in the leadership of Dr Tahir UL Qadri and Imran Khan stand united and are determined to get true democracy to the country which can give basic rights to its people in the form of a society which can provide food , shelter, health, education and create a conducive environment which allows business opportunities and jobs for its people.

As overseas Pakistanis we express our solidarity with the people of Pakistan and are really concerned about the safety of the two leaders and the people of Pakistan who are present for the last 5 weeks at the “Sit-ins” in Islamabad demonstrating for the basic constitutional rights. The use of brutal police force by government of Pakistan which has already taken the lives of several innocent people has exposed Sharif government as one of the brutal dictators of all times in the history of Pakistan.

We want international community to take notice of this brutality and use its influence to stop this brutality and act of violence against its own people.
