Restoration of Funding to Infant & Child Development Program in Northumberland County

How we can expect a bright future for Canada when there is no funding to help the future leaders of this country?

NCDC needs appropriate funding so that no child is without help. As a mother of an Autistic teen and a 4yr old daughter with Adhd I couldn't be more appalled that funding for our children has been cut. Our children are our future...Early intervention is key to helping those with special needs to be able to function and cope in society.

My son received incredible help from NCDC. They are an integral part of community and in the development of our community's children. Restore their fudning.

Give NCDC their funding back! They have been a HUGE help with my disabled grandson!

I am very concerned about the loss of services. NCDC has always provided the highest level of compassion and professionalism to the children and families for whom they care. I do not believe that services should be totally centralised, as the personal touch and flexibility are often casualities of attempts to save money. Children and families who do not get early intervention will only need services at a later date when the issues are more complex. As one of the founding Directors of NCDC, I am saddened by the possibility that these very vital services for the cvhildren in our area are to be stopped. The need has been well demonstrated over the years and the success of the progeammes is great. We need to be able to provide this opportunity to those who so deserve it. Please reconsider and do not allow this to happen.

NCDC has been instrumental in our family meeting the needs of our two special needs daughters. Without their ongoing support, our children would not have met the developmental milestones that they have to date. We are sadden for the children yet to come that will not have access to this vital support. Cost will always be a tough deciding factor, but I hope that we would find the finances to support such a vulnerable group within society. The range of supports for us has helped us navigate the unknown territories of adoptive children's birth family histories. They have always been accomodating to our girls needs and I know of countless other families, that have over the years, praised NCDC's amazing support.

NCDC has one of the few therapy programs that can claim consistent successes with children with special needs (autism spectrum, etc.) and back that claim up.

Try doing the right thing for a change instead of all the waste of money....

It is very important for consistent services, especially for our most vulnerable populations.

This is a fabulous organization. My son received services from them when he was young! They were very helpful and he benefited from it greatly!

Adequate funding is essential for our children to develop to their full potential.

Children are our future. There is nothing that has changed for parents and children concering the need for the support of the Child Development Program. Every effort needs to be made to ensure any child has the opportunity for development. It is an investment in their future. Parents are faced with very difficult and stressful situations and taking away the support both child and parent need only increases problems faced. When will we realize that the needs of children must be addressed early in life and that funds withheld for this program will only move the problems into the future.The time to invest is now!

Early childhood programs are vital.

I have observed first hand over the last several years the dramatic improvement of a child who has greatly benefitted from theInfant & Child Development Program in Northumberland County. The question that should be asked is, "What if that was my child?" We are a community that helps each other. Every child in our community is an investment in our future in Northumberland County.

Any cuts to social programs that would benifit children with developmental difficulties is just down right wrong.....with saying that we are the ones who vote theses politiions in. I havve tried to find that group out there that actually supports these kinds of cuts and the only group i can find are corporations and polititons.....I'm not hearing any group in the populous that supports these cuts.....Just saying

This is a mess...family inclusive services for all children with special needs should be a priority.
