Reston Zoning Moratorium Petition

There should be no zoning changes for Reston unless Reston citizens approve it. The growth now is out of control and exceeds what our current infrastructure can support. A plan needs to be approved for Reston, by Reston citizens before any zoning changes are considered.

I am very concerned about the continual growth and the impact it is going to have on us all - short term and long term.

ENOUGH!!! We don't need more apartments and high rises!! WE NEED SIDEWALKS!!! ENOUGH GROWTH ALREADY!!! STOP THE STUPIDITY!!!

Don't destroy the Reston we love!

Infrastructure must keep pace with growth.

More density = lower quality of life. I saw how it destroyed my once lovely town of Vienna.

Traffic is one main concern. Any increase to #of cars on road will make work commuting almost impossible. It already takes 15 minutes to go a mile on Reston Parkway in peak hours. We need solutions to infrastructure prior to adding thousands of more residents. Thank you.

I have been living in Reston for 32 years, and I am absolutely appalled and disheartened by all the new growth around Reston town Center. I didn't move here to look at high-rises and parking garages, I moved here to live in a nice peaceful little community where are you could see for miles in almost any direction.

Slow down and do your homework first!

One of the things I love about Reston are the open spaces--please do not add more density!! I doubt that is what RESimon planned or what makes Reston such a lovely community!!

With all the already approved residential buildings going up, it's already too much for Reston. More density? NO WAY!

Please stop building in Reston, it was made to be a green space town.

Please, no more massive developments in Reston. The area needs time for infrastructure to catch up. Roads are increasingly congested. Schools need updates. Etc.

I haved lived here 25+ years and have always shared Robert E. Simons' dream of what Reston is all about. All the new high rise construction is ruining the look and purpose of this wonderful community. It has to stop.

My wife and I have been Reston residents since 2008 and moved to Reston for several reasons but mainly because of the well planned community approach guided by Robert E. Simon's vision and the Reston Master Plan. We plan to raise our twins here - born in January this year at Reston Hospital - with intentions of enrolling them in the FCPS system. However, our concerns with the County BOD's desire to raise the density cap without a plan to provide the infrastructure to support the projected population increase directly jeopardizes our children's future and the overall livability of Reston for our family. Without adequate improvements to support the projected population increase, pressure on school class rooms, public facilities and transportation infrastructure will quickly erode the quality of life for our family and the founding princeables that Reston was established on.

I have been working with the many people and groups showing concerns about this issue for some time now. I will say this: one voice CAN and often DOES make a difference. So speak out. As Terry, Tammie, the Reclaim Reston people and others know, I actually think we need to go FARTHER than this, but let's get as many people behind this effort as possible. I've lived in Reston for 13+ years... the recent changes, especially the velocity of the changes, is highly concerning and greatly risks changing what makes Reston special.

When we moved to Reston in 1987, we were assured that there was a limit to how densely it would be developed. Fairfax County has already far exceeded those limits, betraying the original vision of Reston as a planned community with limited development, not a place to be exploited by contractors and county officials without consideration of the original vision for Reston.
