I was born here in Aiken ..i love my hometown.. but you have got to stop development of the southside .its a hazard to drivers.. and also there needs to be a age limit to elderly drivers that have medical problems like dementia n Alzheimer's.. vision ..and so on.. my grand mothers has Alzheimer's and was still able to drive . And caused a accident because there's no protocol on dmv and medical professionals telling dmv about these problems.. also there needs to be more things to do in aiken for the young people who make this city.. who were raised here and believe aiken to be there home.. build the north side bring in jobs ..bring in things for usca. To do and they will stay .. loading south side with fast good crap isn't doing it.. build a movie theater on northside. And maybe a skating rink or even ice skating.. something for people to do.. buildabear. And other stores that bring people to our great city because it's different..

Please do not ruin our city. Keep it quaint and unique. Promote home grown businesses. Stay away from junk/fast foods we have enough. Develop the mall as an outdoor space. Create more for kids. Keep the bowling alley. Honestly we do not need another Taco Bell. We have plenty of Mexican restaurants. No more dollar stores they are everywhere !

I agree, this will directly affect the public and should be open to the citizens to know the details before agreeing upon this.

There is an overwhelming negative response to this project on social media and other "unofficial" platforms. As citizens of this city, the ones this truly impacts, we deserve the chance to make our voices heard.

That local politicians could consider driving healthy, locally-owned business out of downtown for a PARKING GARAGE is wrong in so many ways. Do better, Aiken leadership!

John Klimm and the rest of the people behind the renaissance need to listen to the people who enable them to have a job by paying taxes. The City Manager should be an elected position so that the voters can recall the position holder if things go bad.

Aiken is my hometown. It was put on the map for a specific type of lifestyle and charm. All of these remodels and restorations are making it as generic as every city in America right now. We all need to take a step back and understand the area and the pride we feel in its unique charm, aesthetics, and pace. Sure this town doesn't have everything it needs for everyone, but that's when you do what I did and MOVE. I know what I needed day-to-day and found it, but I love knowing that I can come back to my hometown and escape back to a simpler and more peaceful way of life.

As an Aikenite, it is so heartbreaking having our charming city being chipped away at bit by bit. The Alley looks like a strip mall with all of it's vintage charm erased. So sad to see others who were raised here as well going along with this.
