One of the key duties
that comes with the office of a president is to ensure the safety of it its
citizens and to protect them from (mass) atrocity
crimes—namely genocide, crime against humanity etc.
The steadily increasing state of insecurity in Nigeria under the leadership of President
Goodluck Jonathan - Niger-Delta crisis, Kidnap, Muslim extremist
(Boko Haram) bombings, and most recently the missing 200 (and another 8) female
students - clearly shows that the Goodluck Jonathan has failed in his duty as
the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Mr.
President, not
having military experience like most of your predecessors is not an excuse for your
apparent failure to ensure the safety of Nigerians. The least you could have
done would have being to appoint cabinet members and advisers
that are willing and able to serve Nigeria instead
of surrounding yourself with morally dead and functionally
inefficient people
Your
inability and/or unwillingness to address the nation weeks after
these female students were kidnap shows your lack of understanding of
your duty and your misplaced priorities.Your vague explanation as to the
current situation of these girls and your half hearted sympathy speech
on national media weeks after the incident was just an added insult to a very serious injury. We know that most of these issues were in existence prior to your administration but you have failed to have a grip on these issues and now it is impossible for you to control.
Mr.
President, currently we are not talking about the appalling state of the Nigerian
economy under your administration, but an issue of life and death. As a nation
we have stood by you despite the obvious corruption and efficiencies of
your administration; but for lives to be so perilously at risk is a step too
far. And from what we have witnessed in the last four years we can conclude that things will only worse.
We as
Nigerians are hereby calling on you to do the honourable thing and step down as
the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We agree that you resignation
now will not bring back our girls or solve all the crisis in the country, but it will prevent many more girls from being captured/killed/rapped and also prevent the country from completely falling apart.
We
strongly believe that Nigeria will be a safer and more secured country without
you at the helm of this country. We would like to thank you for all your hard
work and dedication to the country
God
Bless Nigeria!!!
Enough is enough. People are dying every single day while the gov just watches. We need someone who actually cares about the country.
