As Fair City is Ireland's favourite soap, I believe that the show should rerun the old episodes. RTE could replace the endless reruns of Murder she wrote and go back and show  the episodes from the very start. They could show one episode a day and that would give old and new viewers a chance to reminisce about the old storylines, old characters and would give the show a chance to increase it's popularity.
