Restore Edmonton's Democracy: Rescind. Rethink. Redo

I am in full agreement with everything outlined in the petition. Zoning Bylaw 20001 is an environmental catastrophy and in complete opposition to Edmonton's sustainability goals! Rescind, Rethink, and Redo with proper consultation and thorough genuine neighbourhood involvement!

The safety and security of our homes are being disrupted by the expensive infills that are not actually meeting the needs of people who require housing. Our abilities to embrace food sovereignty is dismantled due to the limited sunlight. We live our best lives of what we can purchase, gardening provides food and also provide positive mental health. The infills are taking away community and quality of life for meeting an agenda outside of people’s wellbeing.

I am currently having to put with infill next door 3 skinny’s ! Having no inout into,the decisions is a slap in the face. The first one is so,high you can see ift for miles! Our opinion has been completely ignored and now we look like a bunch of idiots. There will be no light or privacy and noise constantly!

Protect trees on private property too. City of Toronto has a bylaw doing just that.

We need to replace the current city council!

Edmonton has few aesthetically beautiful, historically marked, and liveable neighbourhoods. But recent Council decisions are destroying what remains. It is heartbreaking for existing citizens and deters and disengages new citizens. This is “economics” at its worst, shortsighted and horribly damaging.

I emphasize IMMEDIATE action. The deaf ears of council and the resulting carnage over the last three years needs to STOP.

Infill homes are not family homes

Stop the current irresponsible infill frenzy. Rescind. Rethink. Redo.

I can’t tell you how disappointed I am in this mayor, who I voted for. I am gksd he isnt’t running again!! Thecwhome City Council needs to be fired!

Two "octoplexes" are to be built on the two lots directly south of our property. We have contacted our City Councillor, Ashley Salvador, and various city departments - and have been told that if the developer's plans conform to the bylaws, the projects will be approved - with no consultation or recourse available to affected property owners. Unfortunately, this important initiative to force a reconsideration of Bylaw 20001 comes too late for us; however, we will do what we can to stop the escalating decimation of our wonderful neighborhood and others like it.

City council needs to take immediate action to address the failures of Zoning Bylaw 20001, its district plans, and associated policies.

The ongoing mass destruction of older houses and construction of new ones going on in my neighbourhood creates dust which which combined with exhaust from trucks and other machines affects the quality of air and therefore the health of residents. Rapidly increasing traffic on roads built for smaller communities increases danger of accidents. I object to the disregard of my health and well-being.

New zoning bylaw is garbage

A six storey wood frame, high fire hazard, 108 unit rental apartment building with an underground parkade commenced construction across the alley to the west of an arbitrarily rezoned, semi bungalow and garden suite, both actions without consultation or notification.

I am an Edmonton citizen since 1961. I am very concerned by the way my neighbourhood is being rezoned and disrupted without any consultation with the people already living here.. We are a community, not just a bunch of individuals. We help one another rely on one other here.

The results of the current infill development plan are and will continue to have a very negative impact on our community. This is no way to build community.

Stop the development of these oversize housing complexes. There is one on 81st Ave. that is zoned only for six apartments and there are already eight going in. City has been notified and has done nothing about it.

We need to preserve the character of old neighbourhoods and not “in-fill” with 6 plexes on corner lots just because it brings in more tax dollars and benefits developers. These 3 story monstrosities (they are NOT 2.5 stories) block sunlight to existing residents gardens and homes.
