Restore Edmonton's Democracy: Rescind. Rethink. Redo

Too many beautiful old homes are being knocked down and filled in with multi dwelling properties when they neighbourhoods weren’t designed for it. No parking, lack of resources and green spaces, schooling issues, and more and more and more. These infills need to be limited to a reasonable number which the existing neighbour and resources can withstand. Without taking this into account you are going to have non stop issues, with electrical, plumbing, transportation to name a few.

I would like to be able to afford a home one day and not have to compete with investors from all over the country.

Looking to buy a home in a mature neighborhood and densification will destroy that

Infills should never have been nor should be allowed in any established neighborhood without 100% consent from the community. Many neighborhoods were designed a certain way and are being ruined by dwellings that just do not fit into the original plan. No one at city hall ever considered how these infills would affect the community. Parking alone is causing considerable stress and confusion for neighborhoods. As mentioned, going forward all building that is outside the neighborhoods design has to be voted on by the entire community.

We do not want multi unit properties built in our neighbourhoods.

Council has completely lost their minds. Ruining neighborhoods. They our proud Edmonton WAS affordable and they are doing nothing to keep it affordable. All while enjoying their tax paid perks and telling us common folks to settle down and hand over more money.

This needs to stop. Ruining our neighborhoods. For the greed of landlords.

Ruining or neighborhood These are not homes for sale. They are for greedy landlords. Where is parking, where is the green space, no rules to fit in the neighborhood. Bringing the value of our homes down if you fave one of these 8 plexes next to you.

I support Reasonable densification that doesn’t push out home ownership and gardens, and neighbourhoods. Not hasty ill -considered overboard support for rental housing that is all just cheaply built, crowded and exploitative of renters.

Development in Edmonton is not in line what the citizens want.

We understand that new house need to be built. On our street an 8 declining home went up with no communication to the neighbor hood and provides no parking for the tenants

My children lost out on three house to developers buying them up to make 6 plexes . That sell for 500 000 a piece . Young couples can’t compete who want to by an older affordable home. Not any houses built in ForestHrights or Capilano make anything affordable. Shame on the city!!!

There are many areas more suited to infill etc housing than Duggan. Sure we have schools and they are super overcrowded now, and worse, the city can't do anything about it since it is under provincial jurisdiction. should have a voice in this decision.

I feel there are a number of neighbourhoods that could benefit from renovation incentives to convert existing sites to multi-residential units or builder incentives to remove abandoned houses to build newer, affordable homes. I disagree with re-zoning neighbourhoods that are already desireable and neighbourhoods that families have worked years to build and nurture. Generations of families have worked for years to purchase their ‘forever home’’. Now developers can come in and build 8-units next door to sell units and may not even remain a resident of the community. There should also be architectural standards as the 8-plex around the corner has doors along the side of the complex, which now faces a brand new infill home. I feel for the owner of that home who has now put their home for sale and they would have to drastically reduce their price for anyone to buy that home now.

If I wanted to live be side an 8 plex or even a four plex, I would have bought a house beside one. Developers should not be allowed to do as they please…. The people who live in the neighbourhood should have a say!

The city is ripe with greed and corruption.

Council needs to step up and make better decisions regarding what they are allowing. We ALL deserve to enjoy our homes without drvelopers destroying fences, neighbouring foundations and taking away sunlight and privacy.

This bill has been detrimental to our community. This was the most terribly thought out plan ever. Edmonton city council must do better.

It unbelievable the lack of respect shown by the city alderman - you buy a home (a house) based ion a classic neighborhood - there should be exterior codes to maintain this - I see two developers who have excavated right to the property line and damaging the fences, lack of landscaping after building - I am appalled - it’s as if the federal government and the cities are ignoring Canadians!!

How dare the city be only committed to lining the pockets of subpar developers. Zero neighborhood consultation, forward thinking, tree protection, and lack of legacy planning.
