City is not listening and has encouraged irresponsible development

Thank you for bringing forward concerns regarding the zoning bylaw 20001.

Please stop the infill in neighborhoods like Dovercourt. This has been a wonderful area and it's only going to be ruined with the onslaught of an 8 plex on 121Ave and 140 Street. This is a small crescent where families have raised their children since the 50's. I grew up in this crescent where my father still resides, I have friends there that have purchased their family homes after their parents have passed on. It is not an area to put some monstracity of a residential building. This will totally change the neighborhood we all know and love. The people on council need to step up and listen to the residents of this City for once. Start being the people we can count on , not those who just turn a blind eye and don't care.

These filters are useless. Decrease the value in the neighbourhood increase parking and street activity and access. Maybe our city counsellors and mayorshould build one right beside their homes and see how they like it.

I have lived here my entire life, bought my parents house and 1 block over is infill and it’s wrong in so many ways! This is a mature beautiful neighborhood that has trees, family owned houses that are cared for. There is plenty of room beside Richard second to build now. This has to stop!

Thank you for organizing this group and important call to action. I fully support this petition and am very disappointed by the poor governance and irresponsible approach to infill in our mature neighbourhoods.

Ruining community neighborhoods

It really does not help with new owners to get into a house as all it does is help the rich or the ones purchasing the properties and then building and renting it out...so how does that help new home owners...plus the extra vehicle's, peoples, the water, sewer, electrical road and alley ways, that were all built around a single family use, NOT ! multiple residence's, even the skinny house I'm against but people did not think about what could else happen once that was pushed through and here we are and now even they are fighting against the same thing some of them were okay with but with a stronger voice from a TEAM working together maybe something can be done...eve the election they say something well they are running but once in power or voted in they don not do a lot of what the majority would like to see happen, sad but true most of the time and the few that try get voted down. Money is what this is all about not building more adorable housing as how can renting be called owning ? I'm just waiting as directly east of me is a corner lot that was matured with trees etc. and the house was taken down and the lot sits empty for the last few years...and when it was first purchased they wanted to build a duplex but it was voted down by petition, BUT now who knows...someone will just build and make more money as maybe they should have just built that duplex back then and the now what they can build multi levels and dwelling and around me they have build new houses after taken down the original houses and even a few new skinny houses , plus down the road even a massive mulita level building which again was voted against by petition which they wanted to build an apartment style...but since that was not allowed they came up with another plan and with the help of government funding included and indorsed they built yes something that is required with the way society is sadly with the homeless and or those less fortunate...but again it is the builders or the group of investo

This is unacceptable housing for a beautiful mature neighborhood! I’ve been living here for 60yrs!!

I was Okay with “skinnies”, and more apartments in reasonable locations. But the 8 plexes are a disaster in the making. Everyone will still use a car or truck because of the climate, the dispersed nature of our city, and disorder on public transport. Toronto has recently turned down 6 plexes in most locations.

Triplex and MAX 4 plex only. It’s too much with these 8 plex’ + garage suites that are being built so quick.

I do not support these 6,8 or 12 plexes or apartment complexes being build in single detached neighborhoods.

We DO NOT want multi family housing in our neighborhood. It causes parking conflicts, garbage issues, reduced value of our homes. It completely changes the feel of our mature neighborhood. Renters do not care for their homes like owners do.

I have hated all these infills from the start, the two tall skinny homes on one lot, to now these mega structures that block everything, leave no parking, and are so expensive that several of them have had for sale signs on them for a year or more.

8 plexs houses are too much for the areas to bear and are causing countless issues. It have increased the load on local roads and infrastructure 10 times. Local sewer, water, internet, power seem to struggle to support this. The area was never built to handle this load.

This bill is destroying one of Edmontons most charming and mature neighborhoods.

The City Council needs to take immediate action to address the many failure of Zoning Bylaw 20001 and the negative effect it is having on mature neighbourhoods and among other things, property values, which for many people is the largest investment.

Let’s keep the public informed about infill projects in mature Edmonton neighborhoods.
