The new deck should be required for all Organized Play tournaments to create a level playing field. The original time frame to upgrade was enough.

I remember talking with Alex Davey about the possibilities of a new damage deck at GenCon 2014. He seemed so excited to nix that ridiculous "Munitions Failure" crit. Why the change of mind? Let's use the new and improved deck that affects all ships in the game for a safe and secure gaming experience!

The new deck was a marked improvement over the old deck, and allowing people to tailor their deck selection based on list composition feels to meta gamey.

The new deck is totally better balanced for the games new ships and options. Having the same deck for ALL players in competitive events will definitely make it fair for all players.

You changed it for a reason! The new deck is an equal threat to all builds, unlike the old one, which had cards that punished some and virtually ignored others.

The old damage deck is unbalanced and the new one fixed that. Don't go shooting yourself in the foot FFG.

The new damage deck was a straight up fix that made the competitive side of the game fair for everyone. Going back on that is basically a middle finger from FFG to the to competitive players and a confirmation that they are only interested in casual gamers in the future.
