Bill A.3414 is an act to amend the education law to require opioid training for medical professionals. If this bill were to become a law, medical professionals would have to complete two hours of continuing education courses on topics related to pain management and substance use disorders: prevention, screening, and signs of substance use disorders; appropriate responses to substance use disorders; techniques to prevent overdoses and spread of blood-borne diseases; pain management techniques; and harm reduction strategies. These two hours would be integrated into their profession’s existing continuing education requirements.

By supporting this bill, you are helping to provide medical professionals with proper training to reduce patient opioid abuse and reliance, combat the current opioid crisis within New York State, and reduce the stigma surrounding substance use disorders.
