In May 2019 my 6 year old son Nathan suffered multiple (3) amputations on his fingers due to his fingers slipping into the rear Chain and sproket on an adult tricycle. After thoroughly researching adult tricycles on the market for both industrial and recreational use I found very few came equiped with chain guards on the rear chain as they come standard on the side chain of almost every bike/trike on the market. The rear chain/sproket exposure leaves the accident my son endured possible for just about anyone who uses one of these tricycles for work or fun. I am asking that the manufacturers of these adult tricycles be required to install chain guards for the rear chain/sproket in hope that no one else has to go through what my son Nathan has gone through.
