Thatch Winery and Wine Works Traffic safety issues from their visitors on our residential road

Safety for children of Harris Creek Road and traffic issues are my main concern. Even the visibility of police cars who live on Harris Creek Road, doesn’t deter the speed for respect of the community. Harris Creek Road is a dead end road that is .6 miles long and has at least 7 sharp curves for that distance, which makes 25 mph an excessive speed account of visibility issues. Also, when pulling immediately into the vineyard, you see a 10mph speed limit with speed bumps and they have a wide open field.

Especially while waiting for the school bus in morning and afternoons!

Something definitely needs to be done. I worry about the kids.

It would be one thing if the traffic stuck to the speed limit, but semi -drunk speeders, coupled with the sheer volume of traffic on our tiny road, is getting out of hand. There also large trucks which tear up the trees and grass verges and the lack of respect shown to the residents and properties of this street is unacceptable. It’s dangerous to walk on our own road and almost unthinkable at the weekends.

It’s quite a dangerous situation. I am sure that neither of these businesses want a tragedy to occur.

Big trucks going to and from winery tearing up the road and with tires going In Peoples yards. Vineyard guess drive way to fast for residential road with no regards to people walking, mowing or kids riding bikes. And when they leave they have been drinking they should not be driving.

This little country subdivision road is NOT proper for all the winery traffic. It's narrow and dangerous for the residents that walk their children, grandchildren, and pets. Speeding cars ignoring the speed limit signs is a tradgedy waiting to happen. The winery has their own entrance and should be utilize as such and NOT the Harris Creek Rd where residence are.

Please fix this!

This road is very buzy and they speed like it’s a major highway

We witnessed this firsthand while walking with our kids and grandkids on Halloween...

This road is not for an entrance to a business. I have witnessed cars and even delivery trucks flying down this very narrow dirt road on the last major portion of this road. I had a home listed on this road and it was a major issue.

Constant traffic, big truck, people leaving winery drunk driving fast by kids, dogs and people walking. Big trucks drinking to fast going over in peoples yards. Road entrance to big enough for big trucks and vehicle turn in.

I have ask many time for the police and VDOT to step in and help us. The amount of traffic is unacceptable for this road. My house sits at the bottoms of the hill just before the road turns to paved they go by my house way over 25 miles per hour and the ups and fedex trucks fly on this road . The winery needs to use the alternate drive. I like to take my grandson for walks and have had to push his stroller over to the ditch several times . This is ridiculous.

Just today we had a car fly into our drive with there car to let a huge truck pass by. We had visitors parked in our drive way and the way he quickly turn into the drive way not expecting another vechile to pop over the hill has he was leaving the vineyard. Luckly he didnt hit the other cars in our drive way.

Every morning either walking or running with my dogs I become fearful as I know Wine Work employers are going to come flying down the road to make sure they make it on time. I have to schedule my weekend walks around when I know the wineries will be busy because I am fearful of customers leaving the wineries hitting me or my dogs. I have to stop pull my dogs off of the road completely almost on a daily basis to ensure we don’t get hit. I now have a daughter and at some point we will be walking her in the stroller and our dogs. This issue has become a dangerous one and something needs to change before a pet or person is seriously injured.

We have kids playing,women walking and our animals on this road.People fly up our road to the winery and especially when they are leaving. We have ask the employees at the winery to ask the people to drive slow when they leave but I guess they think it a race track. We don’t want to be a ass about this but nothing seams to work.

I have family members who live on this road. When I go to visit them I have witnessed the recklessness of people coming and going from the winery. The families on this road deserve to feel safe and also be able to have family events outside without worrying about drunk drivers speeding down past their children and family!

We would really like to see some changes with this traffic issue..
