The performance quality of the dryers in Webster Hall have been consistently disappointing. Despite only using normal/small loads, cleaning out the lint trap and selecting "high" for the cycle setting, our clothes often finish damp or simply wet. We often have to add extra 15-30minutes and in many occasions, have to put them in for an additional full cycle in order to dry the clothes properly.

Time and convenience are really the critical issue. Those of us paying for student housing (vs splitting a room at market rent) are effectively spending sizable sums of money on convenience (& community). The administrative foot-dragging surrounding dryer maintenance is especially aggravating in light of this premium pricing model because the cost required to fix the dryer's is a tiny fraction of the lower bound to CMU's "skim" determined by market rent. This type of minor aggravation is exactly the type of thing that we thought we were paying to avoid.

This petition is to request that Webster Management provide us with drying machines that actually work whether that means fixing the current dryers or purchasing new ones.
