We, the undersigned BDS students, formally petition the College of Dental Medicine at the University of Sharjah to urgently reconsider the decision to include Semester 1 content in final examinations. This policy imposes an excessive and unsustainable academic burden, particularly in light of the significantly increased weight of the final exam. Students are now expected to consolidate and perform across an entire academic year within an extremely limited timeframe, while simultaneously preparing for Semester 2 content, which remains largely untested and requires focused and dedicated preparation.

This demand comes at a time of exceptional external strain. The ongoing instability and distressing conditions in the region have created an atmosphere of heightened anxiety, uncertainty, and emotional fatigue among students. Under these circumstances, expecting comprehensive retention and high-level performance across two full semesters of dense medical content is not only unrealistic, but fundamentally inequitable.

In its current form, this policy risks compromising both student wellbeing and academic performance. We therefore strongly and urgently call upon the administration to cancel the inclusion of Semester 1 content in final examinations and implement a fair, realistic, and student-centered alternative that takes into account both academic integrity and the unprecedented pressures faced by students.
