Request to change the Law teacher
Dear humanities department,
We students believe that the college always tries to provide the best quality of teaching to us to ensure that we have the highest possibility of achieving high grades in our exams but also that we and so that we enjoy the process of learning new information. With this in mind, we are writing to you as we want to express our concerns regarding the teaching and behaviour of James, who is currently teaching us Law. We believe that his actions are not in line with the standards of professionalism that the college has promised to us before we have enrolled.
Over the period of this halfterm, James has continuosly demonstrated behaviour that is unacceptable from a teacher which in turn has negatively impacted us students and caused us unnecessary stress. His lessons are not engaging or interesting and they aren't helpful which means that students have to do independent work to achieve any level of understanding about the content. Additionally, James teaches us incorrect exam technique which results in not only potential lost marks in the exam but also stress from having to remember additional information which would ultimately be useless. Whenever he talks about the content, he reads all the information that is already provided on the PowerPoint without any of his own input showing to us that he ultimately doesn't know the content himself. Also, during those moments he only reads the contents of the PowerPoint without explain anything to us leaving us confused and stressed because, as stated before, we are left alone to learn the content which is completely new to us.
We have also observed that his attitude towards teaching us is horrendous. In multiple lessons, while we are doing independent work, James sits next to his computer with his headphones on which, although indirectly, shows that he has no intention of interacting with us. Also, when asked politely if he could change the format of his lessons, James disregards the question and carries out the lesson while knowing that we don't understand what is being presented to us.
Moreover, James has show disrespectful behaviour that isn't befitting of any reasonable person yet alone a teacher. He is constantly rude to students with multiple occasions of him speaking down to them. He often raises his voice or starts arguments with students and then continues to provoke them.
James has demonstrated a consistent pattern of such behaviours throughout the halfterm which leads us students to believe that continuing to study under James is unacceptable as he has negatively impacted our academic experience in college. We are therefore politely asking to replace James with a different teacher. We believe that with this replacement, the well-being of students and the quality of our education would improve.
Thank you for you attention on this matter.
Sincerely,
Oliwier Luniewski and the Undersigned Students of High Pavement Sixth Form
