Request for Titan Comics to make the New Adventures with River Song
In August 2014 Titan Comics brought back the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors in compelling new adventures with two original companions: Gabby Gonzalez and Alice Obiefune. On October 15 Titan unveiled a Twelfth Doctor and Clara Oswald series and, mostly recently, a Ninth Doctor mini-series was announced to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the 2005 Doctor Who reboot.
But there is another character who also deserves a comic spinoff series and her name is Melody Pond, but we know her best as River Song.
River is not just the Doctor's wife, she is a time traveling archaeologist who enjoys games of universal laser tag with Sontarans and running a detective agency in 1930s New York City. As a Human Plus, she's had two previous incarnations with pasts that deserve exploration and an entire lifetime as a Luna University student, a doctor, and a professor that have the opportunity to provide rich stories for years to come.
Moreover, River is a fiercely independent and complex woman that seamlessly fits in with the likes of Titan's diverse original female characters. River Song, as played by Alex Kingston, transcends age: she is an inspiration for girls and women from all walks of life. Her story is one of overcoming trauma and demanding the best in oneself. Her story is one of excitement, mystery, and discovery. We want and need this type of female representation!
By 2015 Titan Comics will have four series with male protagonists and I ask you to join me today in requesting Titan Comics make River their first female protagonist in a Doctor Who series by gracing us with the New Adventures with River Song!
