Class of 1999, boarder. One of the best things I gained from my time at St. Catherine’s is the friendship with and chance to learn from the Black women I lived with. Every St. Cat’s girl should get that chance to learn from diverse backgrounds.

St. Catherine’s doesn’t have a single black teacher in the Upper School??? That’s unconscionable. I thought the 90s were bad.

Class of ‘83, an era with almost no Black students or faculty.

I am a 4 year boarder from the class of 2003. I would love to see more diversity. I would love to see more discussion about people of color's holidays and the issues that we endure.

Allowing racism in fear of losing out on money is disgusting! Do better. Stop being cowards.

St. Catherine's prides itself on the development of the "well rounded girl." Making the commitments detailed in this petition are fundamental to achieving that goal. St. Catherine's Board and leadership team must act now -- it is already too late. (Class of 1998)

I love St. Catherine's and I love all of my black classmates of 1999. I want what is best for our alma mater, for current and future students. I am signing this petition to demand that St. Catherine's increase the number of black educators employed by the school.

We are not living in 1965. This is not 1865.

While I may be a St Christopher’s Alumni (class of 2000) I support this initiative and believe St Christopher’s should follow suit.

Some of my favorite memories at St. Catherine’s came from being one of only a handful of white members of Unity, which allowed me to get to know fellow students of diverse backgrounds so much better!! One of my greatest fears when the boarding department was shutdown was that diversity at St. Catherine’s would be limited that much more. Prayers for a greater focus on diversity and better understanding for today’s students!

We’ve been down this path before with little lasting change and certainly no effort to systemically change the white culture. Let’s hope this initiative sticks and is more than a bandaid.

I fully support these important, reasonable, and overdue steps toward making St. Catherine's the school it should be. Bravo, Ava!
