we got the news today that the town is hiring a crossing guard for springfield and doering starting soon. i cant thank you enough for getting behind this because we actually pulled it off. keep an eye out to make sure they follow through but for now we celebrate.

Request for crossing guard at Springfield Avenue and Doering Way in Cranford New Jersey

Every morning our neighborhood meets at the corner of Romore Place and Springfield Avenue and walk our kids to school. We walk one block over to Doering Way where there is a crosswalk yet many drivers ignore. This intersection is congested and dangerous during school arrival and dismissal. Children are put at risk by crossing the street without adequate traffic control.
Please support us by signing this petition. We are asking for the placement of a trained crossing guard at the intersection of Doering Way and Springfield Avenue to safeguard our children.
I will present this petition at the Official Township Meeting on Tuesday 9/27 at 8:00pm at the municipal building.

Please get a crossing guard here. I make a left at this intersection everyday after work, around 3:30 Kids are crossing, and cars will whiz around me to get by. It is so dangerous. One crossing guard on the corner or west end and Springfield is not enough!!
For all the years my children attended Brookside Place School and CHS there was a crossing guard at Springfield Ave and Doering Way. I feel that a crossing guard is much needed at this busy intersection.
I have three children who can benifit from this. The newly paved Springfield avenue has more speeding than I can ever remember, particularly on the northend between the park and the college. We have already seen on tradgic car accedent this year. Please take this petition seriously.
Parents need to be their own crossing guard to walk their kids across Springfield Avenue to Brookside Place School. What that means is their kids are left unattended on the street corner while the parent walks in the middle of the street to stop traffic.
This is the way I walk my kids to preschool. It can take a really long time for someone to stop to let us cross and it is scary with little kids. A crossing gaurd here would make me feel much safer walking them to school, and in effect would probably help get the cars to drive more slowly.
We had a guard at that corner when my children were young it was a huge help
