We, the undersigned students, respectfully submit this petition to request the reconsideration of holding the IB examinations in May. Due to the ongoing war in the Middle East, many students are experiencing significant stress, uncertainty, and disruption to their learning environments. These circumstances have made it extremely difficult to prepare for such important exams under fair and stable conditions.
We kindly ask the IB Organization to take into account the serious impact of the current situation on students’ safety, well-being, and academic preparation. We believe it would be more appropriate to postpone the exams or consider alternative assessment methods during this time.

I suffer from social anxiety, C-PTSD, and clinical depression, and this conflict has genuinely made my mental state worse. I have no motivation or hope to study or even try after being forced to stay indoors for three weeks.

I fully agree with the description of the petition. Over the past days it has been extremely difficult to concentrate on studying with so many external factors at play.

The middle east is facing harsh conditions due to the conflict in the region. IB students in the region are struggling in this very unstable environment. Conducting examinations for the class of 2026 will be an unfair test because students in the Middle east are at a disadvantage compared to other international IB students with stable and favorable environmental conditions for maximized academic performance.

I am an IB student in Kurdistan Iraq and right now studying feels almost impossible. We are living in constant fear hearing bombs and explosions nearby is something no student should have to experience while trying to prepare for exams. Every day we worry about our safety, our families, and what might happen next. The IB program is already one of the most demanding curriculums and it requires focus, stability, and mental clarity. But in our situation we are trying to study while feeling scared. It is very difficult to concentrate on revision or properly prepare for exams when our environment is filled with uncertainty and fear. Im not asking for an advantage i’m asking for understanding. Students in conflict situations deserve fair consideration so that our education is not affected by circumstances beyond our control.

A significant toll is taken on student’s mental health. It is not all about physical safety, rather the psychological toll it takes on us. It is not fair
