"The IB commits to act supportively and with consideration for young people affected by difficult or adverse circumstances, their own changing personal histories or contexts, or other challenges affecting their lives as IB students." The mentality for me and most ME students is not there. This is a moment people have been thinking about for the last 4 years, 2026 is our year of graduation and we didnt expect to be studying for the exams of our life amidst a war. We have one month of school less than other students and many people need to be in the correct mental headspace to perform and these situations arent it. The IB states values and commitments but doesnt reassure students or give word. The least they could do is tell us, even if the y wont cancel we have to be informed in the very least.

As her brother, I cannot accept a system that expects my sister to focus on exams while living through fear and uncertainty. The IB promotes values like compassion and global awareness, yet students here are being judged as if they are in normal conditions. With families evacuating and daily life disrupted, it is simply not fair to hold them to the same standards without acknowledging what they are going through.

As a mother, I cannot stay silent while my daughter’s future is reduced to a set of cancelled exams that ignore the reality she is living through. The IB speaks of resilience, global awareness, and compassion—yet where are those values now, when students across the Middle East are studying under the shadow of war, fear, and uncertainty? Some families have been forced to evacuate their homes, others live each day not knowing what tomorrow will bring. In such conditions, how can any child be expected to perform at their best, or be fairly assessed? I refuse to accept a system that overlooks the human cost behind these decisions. Our children are not just candidates; they are young people enduring circumstances no exam can measure. The IB must uphold its own principles and recognize that fairness, empathy, and integrity matter now more than ever.

Applying a uniform grading standard to students living in a conflict zone is both inequitable and unrealistic. Given that we are expected to remain without face-to-face instruction until the May 2026 finals, the academic disadvantage is profound. Furthermore, the psychological toll of preparing for rigorous examinations while under constant national alerts and the immediate threat of violence creates a prohibitive learning environment. It is unreasonable to expect parity in performance when the fundamental safety and stability required for study have been stripped away.
