We, the students preparing to take Advanced Placement exams in the United Arab Emirates, are calling on College Board to immediately postpone or cancel upcoming AP examinations due to the severe and ongoing regional instability affecting our safety and well-being.
Students in the UAE are currently attempting to study under the constant fear of escalation and potential attacks. This is not a normal or manageable level of stress — it is fear for our lives, our families, and our future. Many of us are experiencing anxiety, panic, sleep deprivation, and an inability to concentrate. Classrooms and homes are no longer environments of stability, and preparation for rigorous exams like AP Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry has become nearly impossible under these conditions.
AP exams are intended to evaluate academic readiness and knowledge. They are not designed to measure a student’s ability to perform while under psychological distress and fear. Expecting students to sit for high-stakes, time-pressured exams in such an environment is not only unfair — it is profoundly unjust. It places students at a severe disadvantage through no fault of their own.
By continuing with the current exam schedule, College Board risks disregarding the very principles of equity and student welfare it claims to uphold. We are not asking for special treatment — we are asking for a fair and humane response to extraordinary circumstances that are beyond our control.
We urge College Board to act responsibly and compassionately by postponing or canceling AP exams in the UAE, or by providing an equitable alternative for affected students.
Our education matters, but so does our safety, our mental health, and our ability to perform under conditions that are fair and just.
We ask you to choose humanity over rigidity.

I would like to request that the APS be cancelled due to the current situation. We are feeling overwhelmed and it has become difficult to manage everything effectively under these circumstances. I hope you can understand our position and consider this request with compassion.

I believe with everything going on in the UAE it is extremely hard to stay focused while studying let alone taking the actual exam… other exams like A-levels and IB exams have been cancelled and took the mock exams as a test score indicator. This should also be done for APS. In this environment, it is very hard to let students study.

The current conditions in the Middle East are making it extremely difficult for students to properly prepare for Advanced Placement (AP) exams. These exams are known for their high level of difficulty and require months of focused study and practice. However, ongoing conflicts and instability are causing students significant stress and anxiety, making it hard to concentrate or stay motivated. Instead of focusing on revision, many students are worried about their safety and the situation around them. As a result, AP exams this year may not accurately reflect students’ true abilities or the effort they have put in. Therefore, it would be more fair to postpone or cancel AP exams this year to support students’ mental well-being and ensure equal opportunities for everyone.

Our learning journey has been drastically affected due to our AP sessions being held online in a very critical time of the year which is almost 1-2 months before the official AP exams, so we kindly request a change regarding to the exams, because we feel that if we do the exams our marks won’t really reflect the effort we put in throughout the year.

AP exams should be cancelled or made optional due to the ongoing war. Students like me are not in a safe or stable environment—traveling to exam centers and focusing under this stress is unrealistic. It’s unfair to expect normal performance in abnormal conditions. We’re not asking for an advantage, just safety and fairness.

I believe that due to the ongoing conflict and regional tension, taking such an exam would not only be extremely difficult, but also unsafe for hundreds of students to travel from their homes to testing centers and back.
