Loyola and Tulane have a consortium agreement in place that allows students to take courses at the other institution. So if you are a Tulane student and want to take such a course, you can use the consortium process to take Loyola's course. Finney is a great guy and teacher, but if you all want this course then you don't have to reinvent the wheel and create a new course.. unless you really want to.

As a recent alumnus of the Tulane music program, I think this class could become an integral building block for a new curriculum that actually promotes a wide range of employment opportunities after graduation. The only current Tulane course related to the music industry is Scott Aiges' Music Business 101. While I certainly learned a lot of basic vocabulary and principles from Mr. Aiges, there was a fundamental lack of attention to big picture issues. I am not faulting Mr. Aiges, but rather pointing out the inherent challenges in having a course that meets only once a week, has way too many students for meaningful discussion, and offers no future courses or curriculum for those who wish to know more. Why have a Music Business 101 course if there is no 202, 303, etc.? Tulane can and should do better for its students.
